health + safety policy

Wiltshire Swain (WS) is committed to the proper management of occupational health, safety and welfare, which ranks equally with all other operational considerations.

It is the aim of WS to minimize the risk of injury and disease to our employees and other persons by adopting a planned and systematic approach to the management of occupational health, safety and welfare and provide resources for its successful implementation and continuous improvement. WS is also committed to the management of risks within our role as “Designers” in the safe design of structures.

Our safety objectives include:

  • Implement and maintain a Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 45001:2018.

  • Meet legal compliance requirements and other requirements including the operational management requirements of the Company.

  • Provide and maintain safe systems of work.

  • Provide relevant health and safety information, instruction, training and supervision to staff, contractors and the public

  • as is necessary to ensure their safety.

  • Encourage the consultation and participation of workers in relation to safety issues.

  • Provide support and resources to managers and staff to help them fulfil their legal duties and hold them accountable for fulfilling them.

Management and Project Leaders are responsible for:

  • Implementing this Policy in their area of responsibility.

  • Maintaining the workplace in a condition that is safe and without risks to health.

  • Helping to develop, promote and implement health and safety procedures.

  • Immediately correcting any unsafe work behaviour of workers, contractors or visitors.

Staff are responsible for:

  • Considering the health and safety of people who might be affected by their acts or omissions.

  • Controlling and reporting any safety hazards they identify.

  • Complying with all health and safety procedures, rules and safe systems of work.

The management team are fully committed to the above and shall ensure that this policy is effectively communicated, understood and applied across our practice. This policy shall be made available to all employees and interested parties, as requested.

This Health and Safety Policy is evaluated as part of the overall review of the Integrated Management System to ensure its stated objectives are met.
