Wiltshire + swain have been appointed to assist DECD with the delivery of 3 STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) centres across 3 school sites. The STEM approach is closely aligned with our own research and is highlighted in the recent spaces we have designed for the university and secondary education sectors. These contemporary learning spaces reflect the STEM principles highlighted in the DECD planning guide noted here;
Education facilities should inspire innovation and creativity, stimulate children’s imagination, engage, challenge and arouse curiosity, reflect emerging technologies, enable educators to deliver programs in flexible ways as well as meeting environmental, security, maintenance and economic parameters. Education facilities should have the ability to accommodate potential futures, not merely reflect the past. DECD STEM Works 'Guiding Principals for Contemporary Learning Facilities,' July 2016.
